This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Diplomat by day and DJ by night, Ben Chang has combined his unlikely experience into a unique expertise. He will explain how you have to let yours hobbies impact your professional live. It will improve your life, and your job experience.
Ben Chang has navigated the worlds of diplomacy and national security, music, and photography for the past decade and a half, from Paris to New York to Washington, D.C. His three passions have produced unexpected synergies, blurring the line in between and shaking preconcieved ideas.
Ben recently concluded an almost 18- year career as a professional diplomat, serving in the U.S. Foreign Service, overseas and in the United States, including at the UN and at the White House. Parallel to his public service, Ben has been a DJ -- from underground clubs in Paris or Prague to the Department of State. He also established himself as a photographer, honing his skills backstage at Fashion Week in New York City.
Ben is currently SVP for Communications at Albright Stonebridge Group. He has appeared on MSNBC, CNBC, Bloomberg News, and NPR; he was named one of Politico's "50 to Watch" for 2013 and one of Paper's emerging talent for 2008.
About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
