Climbing one of the Airplane Slides up Wright Peak in the Adirondack Mountains!
Wright Peak's eastern ridge is filled with the wreckage from a B-47 that crashed in 1962. Parts of the engine still on the summit and a 35 foot section of the wing and many other parts lay rest between Wright and Algonquin. Some of the slope angles got pretty steep but it truly was some of the most grippy rock you could possibly walk on and seemed almost impossible to slip! You are not committed to full exposure as there are many sections on the way up close to tree line. I always pick the hardest and steepest path!

Tips for people just getting into hiking:

Don’t do this hike if you are a beginner! Seriously

LNT - leave no trace. Meaning if you carry it in then carry it out and if you do see trash on trail try to carry it out as well to help keep these mountains beautiful and clean.

Do The Rock Hop - The Alpine vegetation is very rare and very fragile so when you’re on the summit of these mountains please only walk on bare rocks to avoid killing the vegetation!
