New training at Atrium Health urgent cares locations is helping save lives.
Many urgent cares are seeing an increase in patients who are severely injured, from gunshot and stabbing wounds to construction accidents. However, medical staff say they did not feel like they had the appropriate equipment to take care of these patients. That is why all Atrium Health urgent cares have been provided Stop the Bleed training which teaches techniques of applying direct pressure, using a tourniquet and wound packing, quickly, to help save someone’s life. One in five deaths due to traumatic injury could be prevented with the right equipment and the right education.
