Bountiful natural resources should be a blessing but are all too often a curse for developing countries - driving war, corruption, and human rights and environmental abuse. Over more than 20 years, Global Witness’ hard-hitting investigations and advocacy have tackled the root cause of these abuses.
Our work has led to worldwide change that has improved the lives of tens of thousands and helped protect the planet that we depend on for our survival. From our beginnings cutting off funding to the genocidal Khmer Rouge in Cambodia, we went on to put blood diamonds on the map.
