"As for what has been presented, there are certain things that are extortionate and it is only because of the memory that people want to take away with them of the auction."
8. Bottle of wine being held up.
9. SOUNDBITE: (English) Bernard Lebental, Bidder:
"He (Mitterrand) took the bottles he didn't buy them by himself so the wine is normal, nothing special. That is why it is amazing the price they get for the bottles."

STORYLINE:
The wine collection of late French President Francois Mitterrand, a socialist with a penchant for the finest luxuries, fetched 14,683 Euros (17,710 US dollars) at auction in Paris on Tuesday - more than twice the pre-sale estimate.
The sale, divided into 46 lots, drew wine lovers as well as admirers of the socialist leader who died in 1996 after serving as president from 1981 to 1995.
Although he appreciated the finest gourmet French food and fine wines and spirits, he ate and drank only sparingly.
Mitterrand was born in Jarnac, the centre of France's famous cognac region.
