The Dead Sea is the lowest spot on Earth, located on the Israeli-Jordan border. The waters of what was once known as the salty lake are devoid of all life forms, including plants and other living creatures.
As a result, there is no fear of sharks, and most visitors enjoy mineral-rich swims such as mud treatments and salt baths, which have numerous health benefits. The Dead Sea gets several times as salty as the ocean, which explains why no one drowns there. It has a salt content ten times that of the Mediterranean and three times that of Utah's Great Salt Lake. Water becomes denser when more salt is dissolved in it. When objects that fall into water displace a mass of water equal to their body mass, they stop sinking. A small body displaces a lot of mass in dense, saline water, and most of the body stays out of the water. Therefore drowning a person is difficult when most of their body is floating on top of the water. Swimming in the Dead Sea is equivalent to floating because the water density is 1.24 kg/litre.
