This is Part 2 of Pharmacokinetics by Professor Fink. In this Video Lecture, Professor Fink explains the Metabolism (Biotransformation) and Excretion of Drugs in the Human Body. In the Metabolism discussion, reference is made to the more water-soluble metabolite, Phase 1 Reactions (hydrolysis, oxidation, reduction & deamination), Phase 2 Reactions (conjugation to glucuronic acid), factors that affect the rate of metabolism and the 1/2-life of the active drug in the bloodstream.
Professor Fink also explains Excretion of both the active form of a drug and its metabolite by the Kidneys (including glomerular filtration, tubular reabsorption & tubular secretion). Reference is also made to Biliary Secretion, Exhalation by the Lungs and other routes of Excretion.
