Today we're looking at the historical accuracy of Buffalo Hunting in RDO. For this week I used the Library of Congress Archives, which allowed me to acquire an abundance of primary source material from the period about buffalo hunting at the turn of the century. Books consulted / cited include Steve Rinella's 'American Buffalo,' Eric Jay Dolin's, 'Fur, Fortune, and Empire,' William T Hornaday's, 'The Extermination of the American Bison,' Peter C. Lent's 'Muskoxen and Their Hunters,' Wayne Gard's, 'Rawhide Texas,' and Tom McHugh's 'The Time of the Buffalo.'

Topics include: Historical buffalo range; Buffalo population in 1890; The legality of buffalo hunting in 1898; Historical buffalo robe / hide prices; The great buffalo slaughter; Estimated prices in 1898; Replicating historical buffalo hunting in RDO.

About Man vs History: Man vs History is a YouTube channel that endeavors to combine both education and entertainment, specifically related to history. While the focus of the channel will expand beyond analyzing the historical accuracy of RDO, for the time being, there's still more quality videos to come on the topic.
