While on tour in Portland, Ray Davies (The Kinks) was detained and questioned because a Ray Davies impersonator had been causing a ruckus in town. Once Mr. Davies was able to explain that he, in fact, was the real Ray Davies, the officers let him go.
Wanting to reconcile the incident with Mr. Davies one lifelong fan took action during his 2012 tour.
Due to the lobbying of Gregarious T. Cline, and in conjunction with the mayor's office, July 15th, 2012 was officially named Ray Davies Day in Portland to honor the art, music, and history of Ray Davies and the Kinks.
Here is Ray Davies accepting the honor at the Hollywood Theatre prior to showing 'Return To Waterloo'
