The Pinellas Trail runs from Downtown St. Petersburg all the way to Tarpon Springs and it's over 40 miles long. On the trail, walkers, runners and bikers all share the road. Safe for biker and pedestrians because no motor vehicles are allowed.
Like the whole of Pinellas County, the trail is mostly flat although it has several overpasses that add some altitude here and there. Since in this part of Florida there are always flowers blooming, the walking experience often include fragrances of the flowers and trees that line the trail. Dogs are welcome on a leash. It’s never crowded although many people enjoy the trail on weekends, before or after work. If you have never been, you are missing out!
Plenty of wild life encounters...mine included a cormorant that decided to walk side by side to a lady to signal that his wing was broken. We rescued him and it was released after his wing healed. if you live in this area, hitting the trail before or after work is a healthy lifestyle choice. Mr. Dog approves this message!
