This short video is a tribute to Reginald J. Mitchell and his achievement's as an aircraft designer, in particular in relation to the Supermarine Spitfire. Which not only helped to win the Battle of Britain, but also the war. It still is one of the most famous and best loved aircraft in the world.
R.J. Mitchell said upon hearing the name given to the aircraft; "Spitfire was just the sort of bloody name they would choose". Mitchell was born in
Stoke-on-Trent, and attended Hanley High School. Later in life he moved to Hampshire, where he lived until his death on 11th June 1937.
