Recently got back from a trip to Okinawa, and I wanted to share with you some things that I wish I knew before I went.

While Tokyo has such a great mix of modern and historical atmospheres, Okinawa was an interesting one to see as well. Okinawa is pretty different from the mainland, and while a lot of the areas are touristy spots, if you can drive around and explore, you'll be able to find the things that the locals do as well.

Okinawa is only a couple hours away from Tokyo, and if you have the time to fit it into your schedule, I definitely recommend making a visit. Just make sure you plan ahead of your trip!

Bonus tip: There is a duty free mall in Naha that is duty free for domestic flights as well, which is great if you're a resident in Japan.
