The Nadi Shodhana Pranayama or Alternate Nostril Breathing. This yoga breathing technique is a great way to bring mindfulness and relaxation to both your body and mind. Start by adopting the Vishnu Mudra (thumb and ring finger) and close your right nostril with your thumb. Inhale through your left nostril, hold your breath, and then close your left nostril with your ring finger and exhale through your right nostril. Inhale through your right nostril, hold your breath, and close your right nostril with your thumb, exhaling through your left nostril. This completes one round, repeat for 5 rounds (beginners). It's best to practice this technique in the morning on an empty stomach. The benefits of Nadi Shodhana include balancing the nadis and nervous system, reducing stress, slowing down the heart rate, increasing oxygen in the body, balancing hormones, improving concentration, and alleviating respiratory irritants.
