The eruption of La Soufriere on 10 April 2021 between 16-17 UTC as observed by GOES-17. The volcano is located near the limb of the GOES-17 full-disk image and is viewed at a zenith angle of ~85 degrees. This very oblique angle allows a near-orthogonal side view of the eruption column. The red square marks the location of the volcano and the blue and yellow dotted lines indicate above-ellipsoid altitude. At 16:30 UTC the height of the umbrella cloud is 18-19 km and that of the overshooting top is 23-24 km.
