Near Fredrikstad in Norway the Norway's Museum of Cultural History uncovered 41 stone and bronze age stone circles. When excavating the stone circles, they found 39 child burials, ranging from infants to children up to 6 years of age buried at the site, cremated. Pottery was also found beneath some of the stone circles. Nearby rock carvings show images of sea voyages and sun worship. And they discovered traces of evidence suggesting that celebrations and festivities took place around the stone circles. The intriguing part of the find is that this particular burial ground was used continuously for 600 years, between 800 and 200 BCE. It's not clear why this spot was chosen or what significance it held, but it is an unusual discovery.
