Why are the curtains red in theaters? In this lecture, D Cortezano discusses how artists use light to convey different moods and themes to an audience.

D Cortezano is currently the Resident Technical Director of the Areté in Ateneo de Manila University, and is also a faculty member of the Ateneo Fine Arts and the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Valenzuela Theatre Arts. He is also the Director for Technicals and Design of Tanghalang Ateneo. Under the university, he has been a collaborating member of the ASEAN University Network on Culture and Arts and the ASEAN Youth Cultural Forum.

D has been the technical director and lighting designer for the Ateneo delegation to the Asia Pacific Bond (APB) Theatre Festival from 2013-2019 in Singapore, India, Shanghai, Indonesia and twice in Vietnam. He was also the Technical Director and Lighting Designer of the Philippine delegation to the 35th International Theatre Institute (ITI) World Congress in Segovia, Spain and is currently an active member of the International Theatre Institute - Network of Emerging Artist Professionals under the Theatre Education Committee. Primarily focusing on technical theatre and design for theatre, concerts and live events, D has transitioned into creative direction and producing content for various online platforms.

He sleeps the whole day on Mondays.
