Where is planet Earth located in the universe?
The Earth is the third planet from the sun within our Solar System.
Our solar system is located in the Orion Spiral Arm of the Milky Way Galaxy
about two-thirds of the way out from the center.
The Milky Way galaxy is found among a group of galaxies known as the Local Group - an area of around 10 million light-years wide (the exact number of galaxies in the local group is unknown).
The Local Group is in the Virgo Supercluster, an enormous collection of more than a million galaxies that stretches across a region of space 110 million light-years across. The Virgo Supercluster is one of about 10 million superclusters in the observable universe.
And in the large-scale structure of the universe where the bright areas represent huge collections of galaxies, the Virgo Supercluster exists in one of the dark cosmic voids.
