With social and political discourse becoming increasingly polarising in Hungary, a political activist uses satire to fight fears stirred up by ultra-nationalists in her country.

Zsuzsanna Döme, known commonly as Suzi Dada, is a deputy mayor in Budapest and co-founder of the satirical political party, the Two-Tailed Dog – Hungary’s most popular political group on Facebook. ‘We are trying to get the authorities to take some responsibility’, says Suzi. Politicians demonise Roma settlements in the name of protecting ‘Hungarian identity’: ‘they fear for their jobs and their healthcare because they’re scared of the local politicians’, she says.
