Russia's defence minister has arrived in Bosnia to meet U-S military commanders and review his country's participation in the multinational peace force.
Pavel Grachev held talks at the Tuzla air base with NATO's supreme commander, U-S Gen. George Joulwan, and the commander of U-S forces in Bosnia, Maj. Gen. William Nash.
Tuzla air base -- the command center for U-S troops taking part in the NATO-led peace force in Bosnia.
Russian defence minister Pavel Grachev arrived in Bosnia to meet top U-S military commanders -- including General George Joulwan, NATO's supreme commander, and Major General William Nash -- commander of the U-S forces in Bosnia.
He's also to review Russia's participation in the multinational peace force.
There's about 1,500 Russians in the area. Their presence is two-fold: to reassure Serbs, traditional friends of the Russians, that the peace force will be objective and as a test of U-S-Russian military cooperation in the post-Cold War period.
After Tuzla, Grachev was to travel to Uglevik, in Serb-held territory northeast of Tuzla, the Russian base in the region.
