Dame Barbara Windsor's husband has revealed the actress begs him not to share the fact she's 'not doing so well' amid her battle with Alzheimer's.The Carry On actress, 82, was diagnosed with the degenerative condition in 2014 and is now being cared for round-the-clock by her husband Scott Mitchell, 56. Speaking at the launch of the 40th London Marathon, Scott told The Sun Barbara was struggling with the advancing effects of her condition. Scott said of his wife: 'Sometimes she will say to me, "Don't let anyone know that I am not doing too well". And I will remind her, or I won't - whatever I feel is appropriate.'The actor, who married EastEnders star Barbara in 2000, will run the annual race on April 26 in aid of the disease which affects his wife and around 85,000 people in the UK. This will be the second time Scott has run the 26 mile course to raise money for Dementia Revolution, the Alzheimer's Society's London Marathon charity campaign.The Goodnight Sweetheart actor helped raise a record breaking £4 million for the charity by completing the the track in 2019. Scott was recognised for his incredible campaign work when he and five other runners were awarded the 2019 Spirit of The London Marathon Award.Dame Barbara has herself has has massively raised awareness of the condition by sharing her own diagnosis and appearing in a Dementia Revolution appeal video in 2018.Scott said: 'When I say to her, 'Barbara you will not believe how many people you are helping with this', she says, ''Am I?' And you can see it gives her a sense of comfort.' 'It gives her an incredible sense of comfort because all through her career she was always a very charitable person and she always got out there. She was patron to many charities and whenever she could help other people, she did, and that mindset is still there.'Barbara, who played Eastender's most famous landlady Peggy Mitchell for over 20 years, chose to keep her condition secret for four years before asking husband Scott to make the announcement in May 2018.Although Barbara prefers to keep private about the full extent of her deterioration, she continues to use her notoriety to raise awareness and support for those affected by the disease.In January, the bubbly blonde looked her glamourous self when she sent a special message thanking Good Morning Britain's first-ever 1 Million Minutes Awards on Friday's edition of the show. The actress was on hand to award Danny Brown the inaugural Dame Barbara Windsor Award - an accolade for someone who has helped people with Alzheimer's or Dementia combat loneliness.
