"EMPORIO ARMANI" Full Show HD Autumn Winter 2013 2014 Milan p a p Menswear by FashionChannel
The worlds of tailoring and sportswear continue to blend together in the menswear collections for next winter. The contemporary man is now endlessly looking for ways to take advantage of latest advancements in fabric technology without having to give up on elegance.
Here comes Giorgio Armani to the rescue.
In what is usually his more sporty collection, Emporio Armani, the designer came up with a number of ensembles that stayed on the classic course but injected with modern attitude. However, and this is key, Armani never sacrificed his traditional aesthetic on the altar of innovation.
The perfect example of this mélange was how the designer used a neoprene membrane frame below most of his outerwear. Thus the different fabrics where given more voluminous shapes, without having to use dense or heavy materials. Another case in point was the designer's sweaters. Armani chose to go with woven furs, making them more functional as the pullovers both warn and lightweight. Another interesting idea was a series of three tops that morphed together puffy quilted nylon sleeves with a fluid asymmetrical knit torso.
The designer was also right on trend with this season's fascination with embossing fabrics. Textural tone on tone graphic patterns showed up on everything from blazers and cabans, to pants and backpacks. And when Armani wasn't embossing his textiles he was using 3D knitwear to keep the idea in the forefront of the audience's mind.
Once again Armani showed that in his own quite way he is still deftly answering the needs of modern men.
