Settle in as Jonathan Lundgren shares on "From Entomology to Economics: Building Soil Health." Lundgren does an outstanding job digging into soil life, biodiversity, and of course bugs!!
Jonathon owns Blue Dasher Farm in Estille, South Dakota and is a world renown entomologist. In this presentation he talks about the economics of regenerative farming, the power of diversity in managing pests, and risks associated with chemical approaches to "pests." He unpacks the truths about neonicotinoids, fungicides, seed treaments and how these management tools are drastically impacting out precious pollinators.
This soil health workshop where Lundgren presented was hosted by Land Stewardship Project (LSP). LSP also brought in several local regenerative farmers from the Caledonia, MN area.
Some background on Lundgren: He's is an agroecologist, entomologist and beekeeper. He received his PhD in entomology from the University of Illinois in 2004 and was a top scientist with the USDA Agricultural Research Service for 11 years. His research & education programs focus on assessing the ecological risk of pest management strategies and developing long-term solutions for regenerative food systems. Jonathon owns and manages Blue Dasher Farm, where they raise crops, bees, sheep and host education workshops & research.
