PREDEAL is the highest town in Romania. It is located in the Prahova Valley at an elevation of over 1,000 m (3,281 ft): 1,033 metres altitude at the railway station and 1,110 m altitude at Belvedere Hotel .
The town administers three villages: Pârâul Rece, Timișu de Jos and Timișu de Sus. Predeal is twinned with Macugnaga, Italy, and Saint-Cloud, France.
Touristic attractions: the railway station, the Orthodox Church, The Catholic Church, the highschool, St. Nicholas Monastery , City Hall. There are many hotels like Casa Ana, Bulevard Hotel, Piemonte, Rozmarin, Carmen Hotel, BRD Hotel, Regina, Drumețul, Belvedere, old houses and new feng-shui houses, chalets (Trei Brazi Chalet, Poiana Secuilor Chalet, Clăbucet Chalet, Gârbova Chalet and many others). Mountains: Piatra Mare (northeast, with Seven Ladders Canyon and Tamina Waterfall, Susai Chalet), Postăvarul Massif (northwest), Clăbucetul Taurului Mountain (1,550 m altitude, with a monument for the first and second war heroes) Bucegi Mountain (2,505 m altitude, with Sfinx Stone and Babele, Ialomița cave, many springs, plants, junipers.
The former Customs Point and the railway station are rich in memories: many fights were fought here. The railway station has the first electricity pole in Romania.
The town has been certified as a climate resort by government decree due to the strongly ionized air rich in ultraviolet radiation and the low atmospheric pressure. Because of this, Predeal is popular within the holistic healing community.
During the 2013 European Youth Olympic Winter Festival, it hosted the cross-country skiing and snowboarding competitions.
Predeal is located 150 km from Bucharest and 26 km from Brașov.
