Peter served in the Hong Kong Police for 33 years before retiring in 2015. He was a trained hostage negotiator, required to respond to a wide range of negotiation situations, including terrorist, criminal/domestic hostage incidents and suicide intervention. He was also the Police Crisis Negotiation Unit (CNU) Commander for 12 years. Peter continues to provide negotiation expertise as a Special Advisor to the Police Crisis Negotiation Unit and as an Honorary Fellow of the Hong Kong Jockey Club Centre for Suicide Research and Prevention, Hong Kong University. Peter has received a Commendation for his response to a bank robbery and hostage incident, resulting in the surrender of the culprit and the release of all the hostages and received the Police Distinguished Service Medal (P.D.S.M.) in 2015 for his 33 years of distinguished service.
