This video is not monetized, and all pieces used have been trimmed/edited/mixed. One of the pieces was composed by Martin O'Donnell/Michael Salvatori (of Bungie Studios circa 2001) for Halo CE; and one of the pieces was arranged by Paul Lipson/Lennie Moore/Brian Trifton/Brian Lee White/Tom Salta (of 343 Industries circa 2011) for Halo CEA. I doubt saying these things will stop potential copyright strikes, but it was worth a shot... :P
Here is yet another entry in this “Just the Mix” side-series. This time we’re gonna take another look at Gun Pointed at the Head of the Universe (with its anniversary counterpart, Unless You Mean to Shoot). Enjoy! :)
In the previous Just the Mix videos, I’ve done my best to describe what I’ve liked in the anniversary versions, but also what I feel they missed the mark on. Well in my opinion, Unless You Mean to Shoot is one of the few examples of a perfect anniversary remake. Everything about it is a near 1-1 recreation of the original, yet still improved. The main drums are as impactful as ever, the deep-bass background humming is even more bellowing, and even the vocals have a bit more of a presence starting off the final section (also it gets bonus points for the added maraca-like shaking instrument). Overall, it’s a fantastic remake and hearing the two work together (combining their percussion and bass) makes it sound even better!
