The Zhurong rover successfully landed on the Martian Utopia Plain on May 15, sending back China's first images of the Martian surface as well as a selfie of the rover. The rover departed the lander on May 22 and established intimate contact with the Martian ground, allowing it to conduct environmental, geology, and water resource exploration missions on Mars.
