Długie Pobrzeże is the long embankment street of Gdansk. It stretches almost 1/3 mile along the Motlawa River. Until the 19th century the piers and quays on the embankment served as the port of Gdansk. The pedestrianized area along the west riverfront originated in the 14th century. The buildings along the promenade were utterly destroyed in the war. By the 1980s tenements along the promenade were recreated at the Hanseatic Mannerist style. In the rebuilt homes housese are cafes, restaurants and shops. The Historical Crane building is attached to the new Maritime Cultural Center.
It is great area for walking both on day and in the evening as well, Amber eye view, restaurants, beautiful archtitecture, must see!
Długie Pobrzeże on Gdanskin pitkä rantakatu ulottuu. Se lähes 1/3 mailia Motlawa-jokea pitkin. 1800-luvulle asti penkereen laiturit ja laiturit toimivat Gdanskin satamana.
