In this lecture, Žižek goes over the somewhat famous triad of please, value and knowledge. Žižek moves from Marx's notion of surplus-value to Lacan's notion of surplus-enjoyment, and adds a third notion of surplus-knowledge. He contends that this triad is crucial to understand Marx's critique of political economy (in its contemporary form) and the ideological effects of contemporary capitalism that, according to Žižek, lead to fundamentalism.
