PLEASE READ DESCRIPTION:
This video shows the problems caused when using time based effects (reverb/delay/echo) in the effects loop of the following Mesa Boogie Amplifiers :-
Single Rectifier Solo 50 head or combo
Rectoverb 50 head or combo.
This problem is caused by it's PARALLEL effects loop, which is handy in some situations. But making it a SERIES effects loop, which is much more common, is a simple mod as shown very quickly in the video.
Hopefully this short video saves anyone with this same issue, the frustration I had trying to find a solution to the burbling, motorbike, helicopter sounds when using the effects loop with delays and reverbs etc.
NOTE
This mod disables the use of the Effects loop mix control. This leaves the effects loop mix at 100% all the time.
Make sure to remove power amp tubes before removing the chassis to prevent damage.
Use appropriate safety precautions.
DISCLAIMER:
I am not a professional amplifier technician and possess limited soldering skills. Perform this at your own discretion. I accept no responsibility for any injury or damage that this may cause, it is undertaken at your own risk.
This is just a demonstration of how I have resolved the issue on three of my Mesa Boogie Amplifiers. Attempting this modification will void any warranties that your Mesa Boogie Amplifier may be under - I have only executed this on discontinued models only.
Hope that you find this useful!
