How to calibrate UV/VIS Spectrophotometer with EMC-SET 100 DAkkS and NIST traceable reference cells.
Why? Securing the accuracy is significant to ensure reliable and correct results, and therefore the instruments should always be checked in a frequent manner. We are using standardized 10 mm glass filters, designed to fit all single beam and double beam spectrophotometers.
CAUTION: Always keep an eye on the temperature and humidity. The temperature is most optimal between 20 and 24 degrees Celsius and the humidity should be between 30 and 65 percent. This information is also stated on the calibration certificate which comes with each instrument we sell.
Summary:
For the calibration, preheat for at least 20 minutes for wavelength reset and dark current. Connect the instrument to a tablet or a laptop to carry out the calibration using the pc software. Clean filters with a lint-free cloth before inserting them into the instrument and into the light path. The filters should always face the same direction for example with the serial number towards the detector.
Select the mode multi-wavelength analysis on your PC and set the range of wavelengths as stated on the calibration certificate. We recommend taking several measurements to avoid errors and save the data you with the PC software. For photometric accuracy use the Holmium oxide filter (H1) and select the mode wavelength scan. Ensure to include all wavelength peaks, listed on the calibration certificate and select a wavelength range between 250 and 650 nm. We recommend selecting a slow scanning speed and small intervals, as well as multiple measurements. In the end, compare the results with the certified values enlisted on the calibration certificate to be able to calibrate the spectrophotometers.
5 tips:
1. Calibrate the spectrophotometer according to the quality guidelines in your laboratory
2. To secure the results, use a pc software for example to collect all the data
3. Keep the calibration certificate in a safe place to check the certified values with the measured results
4. Free calibration guide available on request
5. Pre-programmed file for wavelength and photometric accuracy calibration for all our pc software programs on request
