60 seconds of yoga philosophy- Santosha
Our second Niyama or personal observance is Santosha which we translate into English as “contentment”.
We often see contentment as our dreams and desires being satisfied but this can create a yogic paradox. Rishi Vyasa defines contentment as the inner state where there, "exists a joyful and satisfied mind regardless of one's environment, whether one meets with pleasure or pain, profit or loss, fame or contempt, success or failure, sympathy or hatred.”
Santosha teaches us to be content with what we have and where we are. Everything that has happened has brought you here. We need to accept that and know the right now, we are enough and we can just be.
