Floss rule : The FLOSS rule in Jolly Phonics states that when a word ends in the sound /f/, /l/, or /s/, after a short vowel sound, it is spelled with a double letter "ff", "ll" or "ss". For example, the word "huff" and "off" both follow the FLOSS rule because they end in the /f/ sound after a short vowel sound. Similarly, the words "hill" and "bell" follow the FLOSS rule because they end in the /l/ sound after a short vowel sound, and "miss" and "boss" follow the FLOSS rule because they end in the /s/ sound after a short vowel sound.
