On May 23, 2021, Belarus forcefully landed Ryanair flight from Greece to Lithuania that happened to fly in the airspace of Belarus. Belarus dictator Lukashenko ordered to intercept the passenger airplane since opposition journalist Roman Protasevich who criticizes the regime of Lukasheno was among the passengers. Roman Protasevich was arrested after Ryanair airplane was forced to land in the Belarus capital Minsk.
Aviation expert Vadim Lukashevich noticed an interesting detail. He plotted usual trajectories of the same flight FR4978 (red trajectories) as compared to the trajectory of the overturned Ryanair flight on May 23 (blue trajectory). Every time pilots of FR4978 slowed down and started descent already 177 km away from the destination airport in Vilnius. However, on May 23, pilots were flying at full speed and without descending in the direction of the Lithuanian border 73 km away from the Vilnius airport.
That means they tried to run away from the Belarus fighter jet into Lithuanian airspace, and turned around only under the threat of being shot down. This means that Belarus dictator Lukashenko allowed to open fire on commercial aircraft.
