영국 중앙은행, 인플레 속 금리 0.5%P 인상
The Bank of England has raised interest rates by 50 basis points to 2-point-2-5 percent, largely in response to the country's worst inflation in 40 years.
It's the UK's highest key benchmark rate in almost 14 years.
The move comes as the UK saw nearly 10 percent on-year increase in inflation in August,... well above the central bank's 2 percent target... and follows the Fed's third consecutive interest hike of 75 basis points.
With Thursday's decision, the Bank of England now expects inflation to peak at just under 11 percent in October, down from its previous estimate of 13 percent.
It also warned the UK may already be in a recession.
The central bank expected the economy to grow in the third quarter, but it now believes it will contract by point-1 percent.
