John takes a look at Reallusion's new (and free!) Dynamic Wrinkle Map system added to iClone 8.2 and Character Creator 4.2...a system he's been eagerly awaiting for a couple of years now -- and which does not disappoint!
Dynamic wrinkles can dramatically enhance the 'acting' conveyed by a digital character, and is typically only found in AAA-level games such as The Last of Us & the Uncharted series.
An animated "Uncle Arnie" starts us off and gives some basics, and afterwards we take a brief look at how the wrinkle system works "under the hood". From there we talk about how to work with the tools in a combination of examples featuring newer and older character creator actors -- and with a mix of realistic and toon characters.
We also take a look at Wrinkle Essentials, which is a purchasable add-on with more wrinkle sets, tailor-made for both realistic & toon characters alike, allowing you to choose & tweak to achieve the results as best suited to your digital characters.
This is a fun topic, so strap on in and we hope you enjoy! :)
