As teachers of English overseas, we're often stressed out. We work a lot and strive to improve the lives of our ESL students as best we can. Vacation and holiday time should be a period each year (or hopefully many times a year if you have a great English teacher contract) that you're allowed to turn your brain off, relax, and just let it all go. It seems like we never have enough time off as teachers and it's important to take time to make sure we avoid burning out. Burning out as an English teacher overseas and frequent and definitely something to be avoided as it not only affects productivity, but also our income and the quality of our ESL lessons. Unfortunately, sometimes we don't end up getting what we bargained for and it's important to make sure we are well aware of potential tactics others might use to get over on us early in the job negotiation phase.
