The Uniform Monday Holiday Act officially establishes Memorial Day, honoring those who died in service; different from Veteran’s Day, which honors all veterans. Congress designates a National Moment of Remembrance, asking Americans to observe a moment of silence or listen to ‘Taps’ at 3PM on Memorial Day. During this moment, more than 200 Amtrak trains blast their whistles and half a million baseball fans join in silence.
