Share your comments - did you use a CPM? Was the CPM helpful? Harmful? A nuisance?
The CPM was invented in the 70's and was commonly used after TKA's beginning in the 80's. Over time physical therapy post operative protocols and current studies have not shown a continued benefit of the CPM. CPM's are outdated.
Early, aggressive, and active (not passive) range of motion has become the mainstay of post-operative total knee protocols.
