Here are the top five biggest crocodiles in the world as Report by Jr. Correspondent Olivia Bee .
Number 5 - Gomek- This large saltwater crocodile was captured by George Craig in Papua New Guinea but ended up at the St. Augustine Alligator Farm and Zoological Park in Florida. Gomek died of heart disease March 6, 1997. When he died he was 17.8 feet long or (5.42 meters) and weighed 1,896 pounds or (860 kg). He was estimated to be 60 to 80 years old.
Number 4 - Gustave- This male Nile crocodile terrorized the waters of lake Tanganyika, Burundi, for decades. He is known for being a man eater and some say that he has killed as many as 300 people. Gustave has not yet been captured so his exact weight and length are unknown. ( I WOULDN’T GO AFTER HIM EITHER WITH A REPUTATION LIKE THAT) Experts estimate Gustave to be about 17 feet or (5.2 meters) in length and 2,000 pounds (900 kg).
Number 3 - Cassius- Cassius is the largest living crocodile held in captivity today - but not of all time. Cassius is currently held in a facility in Australia. He is 18 feet (5.48 meters) long and weighs a large 2,205 pounds (1000kg). cassius is 110 years old.
Number 2 - Brutus - Brutus is a 3 limbed crocodile known to be in the waters of the Adelaide River in Australia. Brutus supposedly lost his right arm due to a bull shark incident. ( THAT MUST HAVE BEEN A PRETTY BIG BULL SHARK?) This croc is 18.4 feet long (5.6 meters). His weight is unknown.
Number 1 Lolong- Lolong was the world’s largest crocodile. He was captured in the Philippines and placed in protective custody at an ecopark. He was just over 50 years old when he died there on February 10, 2013. At the time of death. Lolong was 20 feet (6.17 meters) long and weighed a whopping 2,370 pounds - or about (1,075kg).
