If using them for the first time, season them a day before using. Rub them inside and outside with a tiny bit of canola oil (or some other neutral oil). Wipe it all out. They should be barely greased. Bake at 450F (230C) for 1-2 hours empty until the oil turns hard and golden brown. Cool.
