What appears to be a scam may not be a scam. It's not always easy to know. In this video we explore Rome and encounter a couple of scams or are they?

When we emerged from the metro near the Vatican, we were greeted by a number of extremely smart people who asked us where we were going and if we had a ticket. They tried to sell their tour saying they worked for the Vatican museum. They may have been genuine but we were so concerned about the number of scams we had been told about we ignored the men and headed for the queue. We were approached by a lady there who told us we would be at least 2 hours in the queue and to follow her for a tour in English. As she started taking us down some back streets Peg said how do I know you’re not a scammer?

The next day we were a little more experienced in how to navigate Rome. We had already booked our time for the Coliseum and had our itinerary of the Trevi fountain, Spanish steps and Pantheon all mapped out so we were on it like a car bonnet. We learned not to make eye contact with anyone trying to sell tickets and to make eye contact with any drivers who looked like they may try to run us down.

After visiting the Pantheon and avoided what appeared to be yet another scam, we walked to and up the Spanish steps only to find the metro closed at the top.

We found our way back to Barbarini Metro and got off at Colloso stop, we were literally blown away by the colosseum being right outside the station. It is a sight that really takes your breath away. We then went to find a trattoria near to the colosseum.

We were absolutely drained after the amount of sightseeing and overwhelmed by the information we had tried to absorb over our two days out and about in Roma.
