Norway's largest stave church, Heddal stave church, the most beautiful in my opinion, reveals amazing details, carved in wood.

This carvings feature elements of medieval Christian iconography mixed with Viking-era motifs, which are indicative of a transition period in Scandinavian art. The ornament shows interwoven patterns and geometrical designs that end in the mouth of an animal with legs but also tail, most likely interpret a dragon, which would be accurate to the style and other dragon creatures found on and in the church.
