So how much down payment do you ACTUALLY need to buy a home? There’s a pervasive myth that you need 20%, but that can be a huge hurdle for first time home owners. There are some benefits to putting 20% down, but it is NOT worth sitting on the sidelines for 10 or 15 years to save the full 20%. (Spoiler alert - we put 3% down on our first home.)
