Clarence Wayne Dixon is scheduled to be executed in Arizona on May 11, 2022. Dixon will have the option to choose lethal injection or lethal gas. He was convicted and sentenced to death for the rape and murder of Arizona State University honor student Deana Bowdoin in Tempe, Arizona on January 7, 1978. That case was solved 23 years later when Dixon was linked by DNA to the crime.
UPDATE (WEDNESDAY, MAY 11, 2022): 66-year-old Clarence Wayne Dixon, a Navajo Nation Native American, was executed this morning at Florence State Prison in Florence, Arizona. The drugs were administered at 10:19AM local time and he was pronounced dead at 10:30AM. Dixon gave the following last words: "Maybe I'll see you on the other side, Deana. I don't know you and I don't remember you." Officials said his last meal was Kentucky Fried Chicken, strawberry ice cream, and a bottle of water.
