The 3rd of April and The Moonraker. This was a Solihull to Salisbury special with 5043 Earl of Mount Edgcumbe.
We begin on a footbridge at Kennington near Oxford as the train gathers speed following a water stop at Hinksey North.
A fifteen minute stop at Didcot allowed for a move to a bridge beyond the station from where we see two generations of Great Western expresses running side by side.
Whitchurch next and a cautious approach by the loco due to a tight platform clearance.
No such problem at Overton on the return as the train climbs towards Basingstoke.
After Overton comes Didcot and the view from the footbridge at the North Junction.
Finally, in pouring rain, 5043 passes through Tackley.
