Emergency Contraception is used to reduces the chance of pregnancy after unprotected intercourse.
There are 2 main types - The Copper IUD and the EC pills
The EC pills can be used more than once during a single menstrual cycle, but should not be relied on as a long-term birth control method.
EC pills are not as effective in preventing pregnancy as using a birth control method consistently and correctly.
Talk to your doctor if you have any questions about available contraceptive methods.
Keep in mind that EC does not prevent sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
If you are at risk of getting an STI and have had unprotected intercourse, see your doctor.
