In a time before high speed express trains such as the TGV and the ICE criss-crossed Europe, and when domestic air travel was still a fledgling alternative, the nations of the near continent were connected through a series of luxury high speed trains which fell under the Trans Europe Express marque, one of the finest international express trains to ever run, but one queered by the prospect of inevitable decline as market forces rapidly turned against it.
