The Motława is a river in Eastern Pomerania in Poland. Its source is in Szpęgawskie Lake, northeast from the town of Starogard Gdański. The Motlawa goes through Rokickie Lake to Martwa Wisła, a branch of the Vistula.The total length of the river is estimated at 68 km, with an area of 1511.3 km².
A Hanseatic city Gdansk was built around the water at the mouth in the Martwa Wisła.
Сities Gdańsk and Gdynia are named after an older Polish name of the river, Gdania.
Boat cruise start from the quay of Targ Rybny and follow to the Gdansk Shipyard at first. The boat pass industrial wharves with export goods of the largest port in Poland and the Wisloujscie Fortress which is a monument of fortification art. Finally boat get to Westerplatte – small peninsula where first shots of World War 2 were fired from German battleship Schleswig-Holstein towards Polish military depot. Now there is the famous Monument to the Defenders of the Coast.

Lopulta vene saapuu Westerplatteen – pienelle niemimaalle, jossa ammuttiin ensimmäiset laukaukset toisesta maailmansodasta saksalaisesta taistelulaivasta Schleswig-Holstein kohti Puolan armeijan varikkoa. Nyt siellä on kuuluisa rannikon puolustajien muistomerkki.
