Amateur Historian reacts and breaks down the "Reaching Out" picture taken by Larry Burrows on Mutter's Ridge, on 5 October 1966, Vietnam War.
"Reaching Out" not only depicts a tragic scene of the Vietnam War, but also the complicated race relations of the 1960s at the height of Civil Rights Movement era.
Here you can see Marines from the 3rd Battalion, 4th Marines. The main protagonists are Gunnery Sgt. Jeremiah Purdie, Captain James J. Carroll, corpsman Ron Cook and medic Jerry Hadley.
