I'm often asked about becoming a SWAT medic and how to go about it without any experience. Most of the time the question comes from those who haven't been exposed to high-stress situations outside of simple patient transports in the civilian EMS environment. Working in a high-threat environment can be extremely stressful, even for seasoned SWAT medics, and this is why experience trumps time on the job.
